Beginning at 9:05 AM every Sunday morning, our dedicated Sunday school teachers share God’s word with our members of all ages. Everyone begins in a large group opening and the children are then dismissed to their respective classrooms. The breakdown of the age groups is the nursery, ages 4-7, 8-10, grades 6 through 12, and then adults. The 4 through 10 year olds rotate halfway between their classroom and music where they spend time learning songs about Jesus they get to perform in front of the whole church.
Teachers: Nursery- Kathy McGathy, 4-7/8-10 - Brenda Cain and Peggy Chiasson, Jr. and Sr. High- Olivia Jablinski, Sarah Henthorn, and Rochell Kurucar, Adults- Gerald Knighton, Music- Karen Hoyt.
We are currently going through The Story curriculum written by Max Lucado and Randy Frazee.
Our classes for Catechism prepare our youth for Holy Communion and Confirmation. Youth beginning at the age of 11 are eligible to enter our three-year Confirmation program. The classes are every Wednesday night at 5:00 PM for an hour September through May, excluding school holidays.
First year students learn Biblical history, while second and third year students take a deeper look at Lutheran doctrine. The class is focused on the different elements of Luther’s Small Catechism and how they apply to our everyday lives. Sunday school, participation as an acolyte in worship services, and attending youth service projects is a requirement for the course.
Second year students will participate in First Communion on Maundy Thursday and the third year students will be confirmed upon completion of the Catechism classes toward the end of May.
If you are an adult and are interested in the instruction for Confirmation in the Lutheran faith, please contact our church office to set up a meeting time with the pastor.
